It is not just the smell of the greasepaint that prompts people to join a theatre group. The play is only a small part of the whole and to produce it requires a director, stage manager, props, prompt, actors, scene builders and decorators, scene hands, front of house – from kitchen to bar, raffle to door staff – not to mention cake making and fund raising - and these roles are just the tip of the iceberg.
People join as much for the marvellous community spirit, the social events as well as that chance to prove you can still sing a song or tread the boards.
The Phoenix Theatre Company is active all year round and whether you have just a small amount of time, or wish to get really stuck in, there is a place for you. There is a monthly newsletter to ensure you are kept informed of everything going on.
